Experiencing History interactively

New forms of knowledge transfer are becoming part of more and more museums and exhibitions. Technologies like augmented and virtual reality provide new potentialities to enhance the visitor experience and to convey content. A large spectrum of information can be merged in a small space. Visitors can explore the content playfully as they see fit. They have the opportunity to fulfill a deepened need for information.
This Thesis deals with the question to which extent these technologies can be used for the facilitation of knowledge in museums. The object of research is narrowed on the use of augmented reality for mobile devices in history museums. In a design study it was examined how this technology can be used in this context and what impact it has on the visitor experience. The results are to assist the design of AR-Apps for museums.
