DB — Digitale Schiene Deutschland
Digitale Schiene Deutschland (DSD) is Deutsche Bahn’s initiative to modernize rail operations. In order to present their projects to stakeholders and the public, the DSD needed an CMS that was easy to use yet versatile.

Impact
Understanding the Audience
In order to build a website fit for the task, we had to understand the audience. 15 personas were created, based on different user groups, with different aims and motivations when visiting the website. Those where then clustered and mapped to get an overview over the prospective audience.Making the Backend usable
In order to make the website usable for the editorial staff of the company, we structured the editor in an easy to understand manner and provided the different content modules with suitable icons. It takes minimal training to use the editor and the content can be used in a multitudes of platforms from web to print.A modern Content Platform
The new platform effectively communicates the vision of Digitale Schiene Deutschland and provides a clear overview of the technologies driving its future. Each technology is explained in detail on dedicated pages and brought to life through an interactive map.
To give users a comprehensive overview of projects across Germany, we designed an interactive map that allows them to explore the projects at their own pace and according to their interests. In addition to contributing to the map’s design and development, I focused on making the experience fully accessible and compliant with WCAG 2.2 standards.
